Year Three!!

Jeff officially started his third year of medical school today. I can't believe it's already been two years! For the last two years he's been studying his brains out for his first board exam. There are a total of three board exams, but this one is the widow maker. It pretty much determines what kind of doctor you'll be. It's crazy that an 8 hour test is the determining factor. I'm SO happy he is done with that part of medical school. We won't find out the results for a few more weeks, but I'm glad we got a stress free week to spend time together before he started today.

We haven't really seen each other for the last 2 months. I know it's going to get crazier, in fact it already has. He started his peds rotations and is on call, so he's working a 28 hour shift today/tomorrow. We talked on the phone for 15 minutes and that's about all the interaction we'll get in today. I don't like going to bed alone at night. I'm so used to having him there and it takes me forever to fall asleep when he's gone, but I'm going to have to adjust. I've been preparing mentally for this since we started school, but I can't believe it's already time for that preparation to kick in. I've heard this year's the hardest, and if we've already pulled off the first two years I know we can make it the next two.

I'm so proud of Jeff and all that he has learned and accomplished these last two years. It's kind of crazy how much he already knows. He would hand me this huge 600 paged text book of everything he needs to know for the board exam and I could pick any thing out of there to quiz him on and he knew the answer.

Two more years and he'll be a doctor!

  3. Where does time go?!? I can't believe that Garreth is already done with two years too! You have a longer haul than we do though! It goes by so fast, but slow, all at the same time. Hang in there...it is all worth it :) It really is crazy how something so big can hang on one little (sorta) test!! I'm sure Jeff rocked it!
    Love ya Ash!
